ABOUT ME
Hello, I am James O'Doherty.
I’m a keen collector of vintage posters so each post will be illustrated with one of my favourite posters. Vintage posters are analogous to blocks of code. Posters by their nature are ephemeral and only a few have survived across the decades. Posters have another quality that applies to code – they convey a message and the most successful posters have high visual impact often decades after they were printed.

Code is also ephemeral. There is good code and bad code. The lines of code are not in themselves bad or good but as a whole they implement a pattern. Anti-patterns are those you really want to avoid. I will provide examples – good and bad – from “my own meandering experience”.

I live in London so my posts are Europe centric.

My musing will often stand on the shoulder of giants that have come before me. Any similarities, actual or otherwise, are credited to those earlier posts.
